Polkadoodles Challenge 8 – Shaped Card

Friday, 26 February 2010

Easel cards are so popular at the moment, so I had a go at making a heart shaped one. I found the instructions here but I used my Cricut to cut out the heart. Had a bit of a nightmare as I managed to get glue over the base, but thankfully it doesn't show. Used the Heart to Heart papers from the Love and Cherish CD to cover the template, a few half pearls, plus a bit of faux stitching to match the hearts.

I’m off to Farnborough today for the Make It show with my mum. Hopefully we’ll be back with lots of goodies.

Sneak Peek – Polkadoodles Paper Boutique CD

Wednesday, 24 February 2010

On the 25th February at noon, the new Polkadoodles CD – Paper Boutique – will be launched on Create and Craft. If you love templates, you will love this. The CD features 20 templates including owls, ladybirds, cakes, cars, bags, flowers and more. There are over 700 gorgeous papers and over 1000 embellishments to play with. Plus toppers that you can edit, so you can add your own sentiments. The templates come in 3 sizes – A6, A5 and A4.

You can use the CD for scrapbooking too, but I’ve used mine to make 2 cards featuring elements from the Mr Twitty and Vroom Vroom templates.

Ladybird

Tuesday, 23 February 2010

Love this ladybird from the Cricut cartridge Doodlecharms and this is what we used for the UK Cricut challenge plus some ribbon. I made one with non ladybird colours, blue and yellow, but it got the thumbs down in our house, so back to red and black.

Polkadoodles Challenge 7 - Birds

Friday, 19 February 2010

Another great challenge this week from Kris. A lovely sketch and we had to use any bird from any Polkadoodles CD on our card. The “Not for Girls” CD came out for this one. These textured papers are so good and are so effective. The stars were cut out with my Cricut. Sorry about the wonky photo!!

Bubble Wrap Technique

Tuesday, 16 February 2010

I’ve been having a play with stamping with objects around the house. I love the effect with bubble wrap. Just take a bit of bubble wrap, mine was from the inside of a padded envelope, dab on ink and press onto your card. I’ve also used a cooks ring to make very thin circles. How about trying a sponge, paper towel, scrunched newspaper, leaves or fabric and see what effects you can come up with.

Started off being a mans card because of the colours, but ended up being girly.

Have a lovely day

Materials used – Cream cardblank, Paper and card scraps, Cricut and Mini Monograms cartridge, Polkadoodles Everyday stamps, Fiskars border punch, Heart punch, Versamagic chalk inks, Bubble wrap and ribbon.

Polkadoodles Challenge 6 – Hearts and Flowers

Friday, 12 February 2010

Great challenge this week from Dolly – Hearts and Flowers and we could use any CD. I’ve been exploring what's on my Cricut cartridges and saw these hat pins on Opposites Attract. I thought they looked great as little heart flowers plus I made some flowers to match using some Cuttlebug dies.

Card and Bag

Tuesday, 9 February 2010

I made this matching card and bag for my sister-in-laws birthday. I love this cardstack from DCVW. Pocket of Posies is so cute and some of the card is glittered too. The card is a perfect thickness for making bags and boxes. It’s also great for making a card base as it’s white on one side.
