We had a fantastic holiday despite the rain, but sadly the last day came. We started our day by visiting the chateau at La Rochefoucauld. We've been meaning to get there on each of our visits, but this time we were determined to go. It's a lovely building steeped in history overlooking the town. What I really liked were the family photos in each of the rooms. The chateau is still used as a home. I love the room with the little chair and the painted cupboard doors. I wonder what was behind them?
We followed our visit with a meal at Café du Coq d'Or. Another 5 course meal with wine filled us up nicely. We had a list of goodies to buy for family and friends, so next was a visit to the supermarket to stock up on confit, pate, cheese, chocolates and sweets.
Our evening was spent with Nigel and Diane who have made their home in this lovely part of France. I "met" Diane's via her blog, while reading all about their renovations, bike rides and village visits. Diane also enjoys cooking, so take a look at look her recipes too. We were made very welcome and felt at ease straight away. Diane made a yummy quiche plus nibbles for us which went down very well especially with 3 glasses of red and a cognac! We had decided we would only stay until around 8, as we didn't want to outstay our visit, but after loads of chatting we were still there at 11 !! Thank you both for a fantastic evening, the jam and the inks. Hope to meet up again soon and maybe join you in a repas.
