Polkadoodles Challenge 19 – Digi Colouring

Friday, 25 September 2009

For Ruths last challenge as guest designer, we were asked to colour Polly or Jack, characters for the Polkadoodles range of CD’s. We could use any media we wanted, felt tips, watercolours, chalks etc. I chose Polly as I think she is so cute. Check out Ruths fab tutorials on colouring here and here.

Engagement Card for Chris and Mel

Tuesday, 22 September 2009

After a whirlwind romance, Chris, my colleague at work, got engaged at the weekend to his lovely lady Mel. I loved making another of these flowers and thought the red, white and black made for a romantic card. Sorry about the photo quality, but it was taken on a very dreary morning.

Polkadoodles Challenge 18 – Home Made Flowers

Sunday, 20 September 2009

These cards were fun to make, distressed flowers and a flower made with folded hearts.

The distressed flowers were just torn circles of papers mounted on top of each other with foam pads.

The folded heart flower was made by punching approx 10 hearts and a circle of card. Then fold the hearts in half and layer them one on top of each other to complete the circle. I used my Cuttlebug to cut out the hearts, but you could use a Cricut, punches or cut them by hand.

Sams Cuttlebug Card

Saturday, 19 September 2009

I made this card for our sons girlfriend. Sam bought me some lovely reels of ribbon from her last trip to the US. This pink flower ribbon went so well with the embossing folder, it just had to be used. What’s really sad is that the card still has not arrived, even though it was posted 2 weeks ago. Hopefully it will turn up soon.

Checkout the new unmounted stamps that Nikky at Polkadoodles has created for Christmas and everyday.

Polkadoodles Challenge 17 – Potpourri Sachets

Friday, 11 September 2009

“Anything but a Card” was the challenge set this week. After a bit of hard thinking I came up with making Potpourri sachets. Easy to make, cut out 2 hearts, stitch them together but fill with potpourri just before you finish, make bows and attach and decorate. These would be perfect in your undies drawer, hanging in your wardrobe or as Kath suggested they would make great wedding favours. Made with Christmassy papers and filled with Christmas scented  potpourri they would look great hung on the tree. They are so versatile, the possibilities are endless. Check out the other awesome designs at the Polkadoodles blog.

For more Polkadoodles, watch Create and Craft - Sky channel 671 on Tuesday 15 September at 9am. Nikky will be demonstrating her two brand new rubber stamp collections that complement the Jingle Jangle Christmas and Candy Doodles CDs. I have my mitts on both of these gorgeous sets and they so easy to use and give lovely crisp images.

Cricut Forum UK Thread - Stitching

Sunday, 6 September 2009

I love faux stitching so had a go at zigzag stitch. I’m pleased with the result but would probably space the stitches out a bit more next time. I stamped the rose onto the K & Co papers and cut out the rose bud and stem the assembled onto the card.
